Be Soft

“The funny thing about the heart is a soft heart is a strong heart, and a hard heart is a weak heart.” – Criss Jami

Think about your favorite soft thing. A comfortable sweater, a blanket that you’ve had for years, the inside of warm bread. These are all some of the best things in the world. We never get mad at them for being soft because being soft is what they are. Imagine getting mad at a blanket because it was too soft, sounds pretty crazy.

Us as humans are soft too, physically, emotionally, mentally, in almost every way possible. We do the opposite though, we get mad at ourselves for being soft.

We beat ourselves up when showing emotion, skipping the gym, or relaxing for a day.  We put up walls to keep ourselves safe and hidden. Here’s the thing, we were born to be soft, being soft is what creates connection. I’m talking about a real genuine connection too not a surface level relationship.

We equate being soft to being weak, but being weak is one of the strongest things you can do. It often requires asking for help as well. Which only tears down the walls and builds up the connection even more.

As humans, we thrive off of connection. In a world that is constantly connecting we have never been so distant. It is time to get rid of the walls entirely, become soft, breathe in your softness.

Accept it, because it is not going to go away anytime soon.
The time is now, act now, before it may be too late.
