Hanging Art Up

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso

As someone that has moved a lot, I’m very aware that the final touch on a place is almost always hanging up the art. This past week I hung up art in my new place with my roommates and it instantly feels more homey.

Hanging something up is committing and putting your mark on the place. It’s more or less permanently altering a place to be how you want it. It’s your creative expression and blank walls show nothing.

Putting something on your walls whether it be a poster, art, paint, or a tapestry shows that you’re home. It is comforting and creates a sense of permanency which is hard to come by nowadays.

The majority of the art that we have hung up is art that’s done by one of us which adds an extra layer of this is our place. All this to say, when you move somewhere please hang up your art and don’t let it sit around for months. You’ll thank me later but it’s really worth it.
