Past Work Experience

“The only source of knowledge is experience.” – Albert Einstein

As of September 2019, I have worked at Panera as an associate for three months. During the past three months, I have grown tremendously, and my work ethic has proven to be valuable, with a quote from my managers’ testimonial being “If we could we would clone her and hire all of them”. I walked in my first day entirely unaware of the workplace environment and incapable of doing anything independently.

5 Questions

“Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.”
– Voltaire

Alright, into the fourth week of Praxis and we been given a lot of content to go over relating to the four different roles in the program: sales, marketing, operations, and customer success. Personally, I am in an exciting place where I am open to all the roles.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
— Abraham Lincoln

“Create it”, we all have the power and the capability to create, it is a beautiful gift. One of the deliverables this week was to create an elevator pitch/about me video. This brought me far out of my comfort zone and into the unknown. Being not very comfortable on camera or with video editing this was no small hurdle to jump over.

“I want to look back on my career and be proud of the work, and be proud that I tried everything.” – Jon Stewart

How I Work

“Questions are creative acts of intelligence.”
– Francis Kingdon Ward

I have always had a strange love for questions. I am constantly asking them and an open book when it comes to answering them. It amazes me how one thought-provoking question can start a lifelong friendship or turn a solid relationship south. So, when I saw that answering these questions was one of the deliverables for week two, I was definitely excited.

Continuous Improvement

“Strive for continuous improvement, instead of perfection.”
– Kim Collins

That quote speaks volumes to my little perfectionist, indecisive, and self-conscious self. I trapped myself in a box for too long, making up excuses for myself, reasons why it makes sense that I have not improved, and how in the grand scheme of things it somehow isn’t my fault at all. Not anymore though, I am more prepared and motivated than ever to grow and to see my flaws for what they are but to nurture them into something beautiful, sort of like a caterpillar.

So, without further ado, here are the top five areas that I want to improve in:

Top Three Skills

“When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.”
– John Ruskin

A skill is the ability to do something well. For all of my life until now, I have struggled to think of myself as “skilled”. Thankfully, through the pre-program section of Praxis, I have been challenged to take a deeper look into my life and work to see how I can create value and make myself indispensable to businesses and how to truly define what my skills are and how to market them.

This has really broadened my perspective on what “skills” are, as well as how to build a personal brand through capitalizing on your specific skill set and not comparing yourself to those around you.

So, after some thoughtful consideration, these are what I consider my top three skills to be:
