“It isn’t where you came from; it’s where you’re going that counts.” – Ella Fitzgerald
The bar is low, your potential is high.
All too often we lower our potential and raise the bar, creating an unrealistic viewpoint. Like that of a child attempting to look over a big fence. In reality, the bar is much lower than we think it is. All it takes to make a good impression is showing up, doing what you were told to do well, and being consistent.
Just doing what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it is enough to thoroughly impress someone. You have the potential in you to go far all you have to do is harness it. You cannot let the possibility of success be drowned out by fear of the unknown.
So ask yourself this before you jump to conclusions.
Where is the bar and where am I? Do not inflate or deflate either one, have confidence in yourself, an understanding of your obstacles, and a plan to overcome them and you are set for life.
