“Some of these things are true and some of them lies. But they are all good stories.” – Hilary Mantel
Stories are a great way to get to know someone, either personal or not. The prospect of sharing something especially from your past puts you in a vulnerable place.
There is such a strong power that is behind storytelling. A good storyteller has the potential to entertain a crowd for hours, possibly days if they really wanted to.
If you have the ability to put yourself in the place where you are okay with being vulnerable and a bit raw with people, you will be adored. We are human and we like to think that we can do no wrong and put up a wall of perfection.
If you allow yourself to share an embarrassing or an adventurous or even a heartbreaking story there is an insane amount of strength that must occur on the storyteller’s side and a level of respect that must be upheld for the person or crowd that is being told the story. It is a mutual experience and if it is a good one, it is a really good one.
So go, share a story today that you haven’t told in a while or something funny that happened to you two days ago. Stories are a powerful and impressive thing.
