“Dying is easy, young man. Living is harder” -Lin-Manuel Miranda
This week I decided to listen to a bit of a throwback. If you have lived under a rock for the past five years and have somehow not heard of/listened to Hamilton. I highly suggest you drop all that you are doing right now and listen to it.
Hamilton is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It was released in 2015 and won the Pultizer Prize for Drama in 2016 and was nominated for sixteen different Tony awards.
This musical is truly one of a kind, the emotions that you feel, the story, and every single thing about it. It creates an experience that is like no other. No matter if you are simply listening to the album, watching it in person, or watching it on your phone. You’re so tuned in to every single thing going on.
I remember the first my friend and I listened to the album all the way through and we were crying. It’s a masterpiece that created an entire movement.
It takes a lot for something to spark a movement and this musical has that kind of power and strength in it. There is a real urgency and a sense of attacking that is constant throughout the entire two and a half hours that gets you so pumped.
In a way, it makes you want to get up and do something and have an impact. You feel like anything and everything is possible, because if Hamilton did it, so can you.
