Progress Takes Time

“I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.” – Abraham Lincoln

We all wish things could be an instant thing. Either right then and there or at the most overnight. We often forget that things take time and that usually, the journey to get there is more important than the actual destination.

I know it could not sound any cheesier, but it is the truth.

Progress is a slow upward progression, taking time, and one step at a time. Of course, we would all rather the instant jump to our goal but it just isn’t realistic.

I do not think anyone would complain if they woke up tomorrow with six-pack abs. They would be skipping over all of the dedication and time that it takes to get there though. That is where true growth happens.

Growth requires pushing past what you thought possible to get to where you want to be. Doing that not just one, but over and over again. Because once you reach your goal there is almost always a bigger and “better” goal just out of your reach.

So, do not get discouraged, progress is progress no matter how small. Each bit is one step closer.
