Enter, The State Of Flow

“I take showers to think.” – J.R. Rim

There is a lot of talk nowadays about entering a flow state while you are working. What does this truly imply though?

According to Wikipedia, it is “the mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.”

I personally believe that, like most things, each person experiences a different kind of flow state, and how they reach it varies as well.

I do not think I have ever entered a flow state when it comes to drawing but with writing, it is a weekly occurrence.

There are blogs and videos where people try and teach you how to enter a flow state, there are tips and tricks, there are forums and social media accounts all dedicated to this.

I believe that a big reason that the flow state is such a popular subject is that there are essentially no downsides while the upsides are numerous.

It can be an impressive and useful tool to pull out of your back pocket whenever you need it. The more you experience and enter the state the easier it is to reenter.

Find your flow and you’ll find your happy place.
