“I think holidays create so much pressure because people feel they should be having a good time. But you shouldn’t.” – Craig Ferguson
I always love seeing the strange holidays that are out there. I find it rather comedic that people need to make national or international holidays for the wildest things. I did some digging into the most of February. Which can we just take a second for the amount of hatred that is spurred over how this month is spelled. And these are the most intriguing holidays I found.
National Wear Red Day
On the fifth of February it is national wear red day. I looked into the history of this a bit because if you just hear the name you might think it is a pointless holiday. It is actually to spread awareness for heart disease and stroke in women. So, on February fifth be brave and bold and rock some red.
National Make a Friend Day
On February 11th there are plenty of options even in a pandemic or quarantine situation there are still ways to make new friends. Another way to go about it would be to revive an old friendship or simply just taking into account the beauty that is friendships.
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, is a 15-day festival that about 20% of the world celebrates. It is full of food, happiness, and red envelopes. It is also a time for people to think about their ancestors, the sacrifices they made and how their actions helped to create the life people have now.
Random Act of Kindness Day
Throughout the past year the world has been through a lot on February 17th take some time to complete a random act of kindness. It can be as simple as complimenting someone, treating someone to dinner, giving someone a ride that is out of your way or anything else you can think of.
National Muffin Day
Who doesn’t love a good muffin? I know whenever I bake muffins my family devours them in less than 24 hours. Because of this on February 20th I will be sure to make some muffins and enjoy them. When I was working at Panera our muffins used to be one of our biggest sellers and for good reason. We say they are a breakfast food but in reality it is a cake without frosting but that will not stop me from eating more than I would like to share of them.
