Worm Or Cheese

“The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.” Willie Nelson

This saying has been around since 1605. It has outlived plenty of people. Although, I have started to question how true this statement is.

The saying is meant to portray that when you start something early you maximize the potential outcome.

Each person has their own personal time of peak work though. For some people, it is waking up at 5am and getting a head start of their day. Then for others, it’s when they have stayed up all night and go to bed at 5am. My version of early may be way later or way earlier than someone else’s.

Although there is truth in the statement.

A good example is when you are standing in line for something you really want. For instance, when the newest iPhone comes out, a Popeyes chicken sandwich, or a movie you’ve been waiting years to see. Or when you are a kid and mom has just finished making homemade breakfast. You want to be the first of your siblings down there and get the freshest pancakes and bacon possible.

In the end, the choice is yours. You have to weigh both the pros and the cons. Is waking up early really going to benefit you more than sleeping in? Some say a resounding yes, others debate, and some just laugh -they cherish their sleep too much for such nonsense.
