Speaking Up

“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent” – Madeleine K. Albright

I know firsthand the fear of speaking up, your palms getting sweaty, your heart beating, rehearsing in your head over and over again what you are going to say.

Once you do it is like a massive weight has lifted off of your shoulders. There is nothing more gratifying than doing something that you were scared of.  An overwhelming sense of peace greets you as soon as you take the leap to express your thoughts.

It takes an immense amount of strength to speak your mind, way more than most people give others credit for. It takes a kind of courage that can only be learned by going and not taught.

So if you have it, congratulations you have done the hardest part. If you do not have it in you yet, do not worry you still have time to learn it. So go for it, it only takes a second for a lifetime of change.
