When you say hello there is a sense of wonder, of something new. When you say goodbye there is a sense of wonder too, but it is wonder about when/if you will see the person again. There is excitement behind the first wonder and fear behind the second. Both make you have the feeling in your gut of the unknown.
Life is such a fleeting thing, it is a gift that can be taken away from us in mere minutes. It is something so fragile yet we take for granted daily, and we rarely realize how much a miracle it truly is until it is too late.
So, I challenge you to do this, the next time you say hello to someone appreciate the moment, you do not know what it could be the beginning of. The next time you say goodbye to someone treasure it, you have no idea what could happen between that moment and when you see them next.
