“Every experience, good or bad, you have to learn from.” – Patrick Mahomes
This past weekend was the Super Bowl. As someone from Kansas City, it was pretty crazy to see the entire town gather together. Everywhere you looked people were in Chiefs gear and it felt like it was all that anyone talked about.
At halftime I am pretty sure about half the town was nearly in tears because we were down by ten. I don’t think I’ve ever received so many text messages or seen as many Facebook updates as night. It was a constant stream of people expressing their thoughts, giving criticism and a lot of prayers.
I can honestly say that I did not think that we were going to make a comeback. Even though I know close to nothing about sports I know that a comeback of that measure is hard to come by. I guess all of the prayers paid off though because we came back with a final score of 31-20.
The reaction to the final score was absolutely insane. I heard fireworks, screaming, someone rode down the street on a dirt bike with a Chiefs flag attached, screaming at the top of his lungs. I’ve never seen this city react to anything as intensely as they reacted to this. I think it is because we went from such a low to such a high. It motivated me in a way that I was not expecting at all. I am proud of my city and where we have going.
