One of the best things that you can do for yourself is talking to your emotions. Give them a voice. It does not mean that you have to give them a whole face and body, like in Inside Out but simply talking to them.
Saying “Hey ___” fill in the blank with whatever you are feeling whether it be anxious, happy, lonely, etc. The more difficult and present the emotion the better the conversation will be. Then have it talk to you and talk back.
Let it know why it is making you feel a certain way and have the emotion give you some advice. Let it speak and say whatever it needs to say. I personally write it down but also you can just say it in your head if you want to.
Give your emotion the time and space to speak, it may be uncomfortable but it is normal. It is also a necessary thing to do to get to know yourself and what you are feeling to the fullest.
