“Love is our most basic human value and also our highest potential.” – Kamand Kojouri
I was thinking about this the other day, basic has such a negative connotation to it. But why? If someone truly loves the most popular basic music then why on earth is that a bad thing? If someone genuinely loves the most basic trends and feels confident in them. Why do we belittle them?
Being basic isn’t a bad thing as long as it isn’t in place of who someone is. If someone is covering up their true self with basicness then that is a no-go, but if someone is just basic and thriving then who am I to stop them.
I personally am extremely comfortable and feel like myself in jeans and a t-shirt, no statement whatsoever. Others might spend hours putting together the perfect outfit and be outlandish, but confident and comfortable in what they are wearing.
One is not better than the other, they are different for sure but that does not place one of them above the other. Being basic is not bad, allow people to be who they want to be, dress how they want to dress, and listen to the music that makes them feel good.
I am here to fight for everyone that is basic. No one should make someone feel bad for simply being who they are. There is something about it that just feels dirty.
Also, slightly on topic, if you see someone and you like something about them whether it be their hair, nails, shoes, etc. let them know. It can change someone’s day, week, heck it could have the power to change someone’s life if you really think about it. How exciting is it that you have that ability?
So, don’t make fun of people for being basic because it isn’t bad and compliment like it is your job.
