Meaningful Compliments

“Compliments cost nothing, yet many pay dear for them.” – Thomas Fuller

I find compliments to be such interesting things. I give them freely but have tremendous difficulty taking them. But if someone gives me a genuine and meaningful compliment then I’m a lot more likely to accept it.

An example of non-look based, empowering compliments include:

  • I like who I am around you
  • You inspire me
  • You look happy
  • I love talking to you
  • You’re a good listener
  • You make me feel better
  • Thank you for being you
  • I wish there were more people like you
  • You’re fun to be around
  • I’m happy we met
  • You make me feel safe
  • You’ve made my life better

As you can tell none of these are about someone’s appearance. They’re about the person as a whole. Send or tell someone a meaningful compliment today to uplift them.
