Obsession With Efficiency

“The best cure for one’s bad tendencies is to see them in action in another person.” – Alain de Botton

When everything is moving at the speed of light life can be overwhelming and we feel the constant need to perform up to par. This has caused an obsession with efficiency, people wake up at 4:30am and feel the need to get an entire day’s work done before other people have woken up.

News flash, this isn’t healthy.

Be brave enough to pause your obsession and just enjoy life. Being efficient 24/7 is exhausting and can cause burnout. Know your limits and know it’s okay to not be efficient all the time. Your mind and body need to heal and if you’re constantly moving and doing things this is nearly impossible to accomplish.

Breathe when you need to breathe, take a break when you need to take a break, rest, and recharge whenever you need to. These things aren’t a treat and they don’t make you less efficient or valuable if anything they improve your efficiency. Create a safe space for yourself. Take a midday nap if that is what you’re in need of.

All this to say, take care of yourself and don’t feel the pressure to fall into the efficiency trap.
