“Anxiety’s like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you very far.” – Jodi Picoult
I don’t know about you but the morning and evening tend to be when my anxiety is at its worst. There’s something about the anticipation for the day ahead that hits different. Here are a handful of ways that you can help combat your morning and evening anxiety.
Morning:
- Wake up early, don’t hit snooze
- Don’t go on your phone or social media
- Make your bed
- Drink a glass of water
- Move your body, even if it’s just stretching
- Take your vitamins and/or meds
- Listen to an uplifting podcast or song
Evening:
- Tidy up a bit
- Figure out your outfit for the next day
- Review your calendar for the next day
- Unplug from social media
- Drink decaffeinated tea
- Take a warm bath
- Do some breathing exercises
- Write down any thoughts or worries
- Do a body scan
