Gingerbread Decorating

“Begin with the end in mind.” – Steven Covey

Have you ever tried decorating a gingerbread house?

Typically it starts off with some big goals, visions of the perfect looking house. In the end, those plans usually go in the trash and possibly the gingerbread house too.

It’s crazy how something so easy looking can be so so challenging.
I think that life is like this as well.

When we are kids we want to be astronauts, ballerinas, doctors, teachers, and more. When reality ends up hitting at some point -and it hits hard- we rethink our plans.

But why do we do this?

What stops us from committing further to a masterpiece of a gingerbread house? What is holding us back from our lifelong dreams? The ones that we have had since we were kids.

If I’m going to be honest here it’s ourselves. Yes, money is a big thing as well as time, resources, etc. but if it really if your dream your one goal in life. Then all of the things holding you back don’t look like a mountain you have to climb, although the may feel like it, but a simple hurdle that you have to jump over.

The more hurdles you jump over the easier it gets. It switches your mindset if you did it once you’ll be able to do it again, and again, and again. It may be difficult at the time but each hurdle you jump over means you are one step closer to your goals.

So go, chase your goals. Don’t let them collect dust like that old bike in your garage.
