“If you have a dream, don’t just sit there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make it a reality.” – Dr. Roopleen
One of the things that daily blogging has helped me with is getting comfortable shipping things.
I remember when I first started and built this website it took me weeks to write, edit, and publish a blog.
If you would have told me back then that I would be publishing something every day for months, with no end in sight I would have called you insane. But here I am.
Through it all, I have learned the importance of shipping things. It can be so easy to get hyper-focused on making whatever “it” is flawless that you freeze, and never follow through.
There is a moment where you have to expect the fact that the “good enough” mindset is sometimes necessary. Without it, so many inventions, websites, communities, and more would not have been built.
You can try and try to continue improving “it” but at some point, you just have to say “good enough” and ship it. If you never ship it you will never see the benefits of all your hard work.
You can always go back and make adjustments as needed, but getting it out there for the world to see is what has to happen at some point. The comfortable feeling that comes from knowing that criticism is coming your way, the sweaty palms, and pumping heart when you press publish.
Those are the moments where growth is happening, not when you are rereading the same sentence for the 100th time in the past hour.
Now is the time to ship it, whatever it may be for you. What are you going to ship?
I’m with you Mia! I just shipped an application and a blog post tonight, and taking care of the application quickly proved to be quite serendipitous 🙂
Great reminder.
