“A brave man acknowledges the strength of others.” – Veronica Roth
I was listening to a podcast the other day and the randomly said the quote “You have always been brave, you were just too scared for a while.” Also, feel the need to mention that this was a true-crime podcast and I was not ready for that.
As they went into more detail they explained that for a while there the part of you that is brave, which is always present, was smaller than the part of you that is scared. Eventually, as you learn, grow, and gain confidence in yourself, they start to even out, and then at some point, they switch. The part of you that is scared starts to creep down and the part of you that is brave starts to rise up.
Before you know it you realize you are doing things that your old self would have wanted to do but you just weren’t brave enough yet.
This does not mean that you were weak before, and this definitely does not mean that you should be mad at your past self. The only outcome that should happen from this is you being proud of your current self and the progress that you have made.
