Never Too Old & Never Too Young

“Youth can not know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young.” – J.K. Rowling

My mom and I have had very opposite yet similar life experiences. She went back to college to pursue her dream of being a nurse at the age of 40. I skipped college, entered the job market, and started pursuing my dream of being in marketing at the age of 17.

In both of our situation people too us it could not be done. It was not the conventional thing to do so it must be impossible.

It was too late for her, and for me, it was too early. We would never make it.

We proved them wrong though. She took an accelerated BSN program, taking over 60 credits in a year while continuing to look after the five of us kids. She now got accepted into the KU doctor of nursing practice (BSN-DNP) program. I moved out to California for a Marketing Apprenticeship, and am now an SEO Specialist.

We are proof that often times you are your own worst enemy, and sometimes you have to ignore the negativity surrounding you and chase after your dreams. If you don’t go after then someone else will and you will hear another success story and once again think to yourself ‘it should have been me.’

This is your sign, you are on time. You aren’t late or early, it is not pointless or a waste of time. It is your time.

The windy paths that life takes you on usually don’t make sense but if you trust the process and trust yourself it will be a fantastic path to be on.
