“Start each day with a positive thought and a grateful heart.” – Roy T. Bennett
I don’t know about you but my thoughts can be scary sometimes, particularly if I am in a bad place mentally.
Something I have been working on is realizing that I am not my thoughts. Do I have thoughts? Yes. But am I my thoughts? No.
This is the magical difference that so often gets forgotten.
Because you have this knowledge, do not beat yourself up because of your thoughts.
We all have random thoughts, they mean nothing about you. This is tremendously true for those with anxiety, depression, or OCD related thoughts. They can control your life and make you feel shame for what you are thinking.
Show yourself compassion. Thoughts are just thoughts, that is it nothing less and nothing more.
Although we don’t have control over our automatic or random thoughts we do have control over the actions we take towards them, which ones we listen to, and which ones we take seriously.
This is something that a lot of people struggle with which means they aren’t something we should be scared of or hide.
You are not your thoughts.
